Some things just make too much sense. Like North America’s largest dedicated Salesforce consulting and application development firm being acquired by… Salesforce. That was the case today when it was announced that Burnaby-headquartered Traction on Demand signed an agreement to be acquired by the San Francisco software giant. Details on the cost of the acquisition were not released.

Why it matters: Traction on Demand is a major player, not just in B.C.’s tech scene, but across the world, with offices in places like India and Australia. The company celebrated its 1,000th employee last year while acquiring New Zealand-based Trineo. It was also named Best Workplace in Canada in 2019.

“With Traction on Demand, Salesforce will be able to better provide customers, across all industries, with products and solutions that meet their specific needs, from financial services to communications and across clouds. Together with Salesforce, and our deep commitment to our industry strategy, customers can go digital faster and transform their industry,” reads an official release.

Other details: Traction on Demand will become part of Salesforce Professional Services, which helps customers with the Salesforce Customer 360 platform.

What’s next: For now, it’s business as usual for Traction on Demand. But the release hints at some major changes on the way: “We’ll have more exciting news to share when the acquisition closes…After the transaction closes, we will share more about the product roadmap and what it means for Traction on Demand and Salesforce.”
