48 finalists unveiled for Technology Impact Awards
Meet the companies most impactful to the local tech ecosystem according to the BC Tech Association.
The 2022 Technology Impact Awards (TIAs) are already living up to its theme. Under the header of “ambition,” the BC Tech Association unveiled an enterprising 48 finalists across 12 categories.

The 2022 Spirit of BC Tech – Ambition Award is presented in partnership with TELUS.
GameChanger – Climate Leadership

The 2022 GameChanger – Diversity & Inclusion Award is presented in partnership with PwC.
Excellence in Industry Innovation
The 2022 Excellence in Industry Innovation Award is presented in partnership with Accenture.
Excellence in Technology Innovation
The Excellence in Technology Innovation Award is presented in partnership with MDA.
Company of the Year – Startup
The 2022 Company of the Year – Startup Award is presented in partnership with Microsoft.
Company of the Year – Growth
The 2022 Company of the Year – Growth Award is presented in partnership with OSLER.
Company of the Year – Export

Company of the Year – Scale

Excellence in Company Culture
The Excellence in Company Culture Award is presented in partnership with SAP.
Person of the Year
The 2022 Person of the Year Award is presented in partnership with Amazon.
What’s new:
Of note is a revamped Company of the Year - Startup category, which features a ten-company cohort that will pitch at a separate, Dragons’ Den-style event for a spot in the top three. The winner from that trio will be announced at the TIAs gala and handed a cheque for $10,000.
Also new is the award category GameChanger in Climate Leadership. “I’m honoured to celebrate the finalists for the Gamechanger Climate Leadership award,” Kirsten Sutton, chief technology and information officer at Vancity (the award’s presenter), said. “Vancity believes that becoming net-zero means doing things differently, and their spirit of innovation is critical in addressing the climate crisis.”
A ‘thrilling’ cast of companies:
“What is thrilling about this year’s 48 finalists is that they represent exceptional ambition in so many ways, from climate leadership to diversity and inclusion to using technology to solve challenges in traditional industries,” Jill Tipping, CEO of the BC Tech Association, said. “It is inspiring to see how technology is transforming BC’s economy and creating new opportunities in every community in BC.”
