Compare tech salaries instantly: Introducing the VanHack Tech Salary Calculator

www.vantechjournal.com

VanHack, a global leader in remote tech recruitment, is announcing the soft launch of its Tech Salary Calculator, a platform designed to help employers and candidates stay on top of the latest salary trends for remote technical work, as well as for relocated staff.

The company has helped employers hire over 1,500 developers, designers, and analysts over the past 6 years, and has used its proprietary data to create this Salary Tool, allowing employers and candidates to compare historical salary trends for different job roles across different markets.

The Tech Salary Calculator is currently free to use, but employers/candidates will be required to sign up to view matching candidates/jobs to their search query.

Tech talent scarcity and the new dynamic of remote work

The current ambiguity in tech salary standards is due to two main factors: a scarcity of experienced tech talent and the rise of global remote work. The great resignation of 2021 has put an even higher premium on available senior talent, causing a sharp rise in salary demands and expectations.

Startups and small-to-midsize companies, who have been priced out by larger corporations and enterprises, are now looking outside their immediate geography and towards the global talent pool to hire remote employees. The unfamiliarity with this market - how to fairly price an employee living in another country - presents another challenge for these companies.

Compare tech salaries across locations, roles, and experience

The VanHack Tech Salary Calculator solves these problems. It contains five different major search parameters: Contract type, Role, Location, Years of Experience, and Skills.

Contract type segments jobs into two categories: Fully remote jobs and relocation. Fully remote refers to opportunities where the employee will remain in their current country of residence, while relocation covers jobs where the employer migrates the employee to their country of operations.

There are noticeable differences in salaries across different markets, and the VanHack Salary Tool takes that into cognizant consideration. Users can search the platform for salaries in the USA, Canada, and across Europe - the markets where the company is actively working to place hires.

Role, years of experience, and skills allow users to finetune the data to a granular level, providing a company in Canada looking to hire a remote mid-level front-end developer skilled in React and Angular the exact market rate for such a developer. It also allows employees to better prepare themselves for interviews and salary negotiation while avoiding being shortchanged by knowing the market rates for the skillsets they have.

When criteria have been selected, the Salary Tool shows the average salary for the role in that country, the ranges of salaries offered over the past year, and also the average salary for different cities in the country.

The VanHack Tech Salary Calculator provides even more value to both employers and job seekers by showing jobs or candidates that fit their search criteria. Candidates are selected from VanHack’s tech talent base of 300,000+ developers. Employers can sign up to become a Hiring Partner to be able to connect with the candidates.

Job seekers who want to join the VanHack talent pool for access to more high-quality jobs can sign up here, while employers who wish to sign up to meet and hire vetted and experienced tech talents in days can sign up here.
