Welcome to the start of Q1. We’re moving into a year of weaker economic growth, so keep those budgets manageable with a few different funding sources you can apply for this new year.

Get moving: many of these applications close as early as next week!

Scaling innovation

High-growth businesses are eligible to apply for up to $10 million from Pacific Economic Development Canada until Jan. 31. The Business Scale-Up and Productivity Program offers interest-free, repayable funding. Learn more >>

Apply for a minimum contribution of $10 million from the Strategic Innovation Fund to accelerate technology transfer, commercialization, and ecosystem building across Canada. Learn more >>

Wage subsidies

Have 50 or fewer full-time employees and are looking to hire staff for the summer? Canada Summer Jobs is accepting applications until Jan. 12. Learn more >>

If you’re tackling climate action, the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions will provide $12,000 to hire a student intern. Applications are due Jan. 12.

Biotech companies seeking to employ skilled newcomers can apply for up to $20,000 in wage subsidies from BioTalent Canada. Learn more >>

Climatetech

Technology that accelerates the journey to net-zero carbon can apply for the BC Centre for Innovation and Clean Energy’s Open Call for Innovation starting Jan. 16 until Feb. 10. The program will award up to $6 million in non-dilutive grant funding. Learn more >> 

Women, Two-Spirit, trans, and non-binary people

Social enterprises that lead or serve any or all of these populations can apply for up to $75,000 from the Canadian Women’s Foundation until Jan. 18. Enterprises must apply in partnership with a registered charity, municipality, or other qualified donees as indicated by the federal government. Learn more >>

Creative industries

Interactive and digital media innovators can apply for a reimbursement of up to $2,500 from CreativeBC to access international markets or conferences, as well as co-production or co-financing events. Applications must be submitted at least three weeks prior to the event. Learn more >>
