Exclusive: The Vancouver Canucks NHL franchise is looking to hire an NFT Strategy & Development Manager.

“The Canucks are the only—of 31—NHL teams currently advertising an in-house NFT role,” reports James Matthews. “Not even the Silicon Valley-adjacent San Jose Sharks, who recently became the first NHL team to accept payments in cryptocurrency, have a listed position.” ➝ Get the full story.

BC’s TGS Esports and Volcanic Media Inc have teamed up to deliver the Collegiate Champions Series, a brand new 6-month long scholastic esports program with $32,000 of scholarships and grants up for grabs.

The Collegiate Champions Series is available to all Canadian post-secondary students. It will take place virtually with tournaments beginning July 10th, Virtual Classroom Workshops starting in the fall, followed thereafter by a Case Competition in the winter. The program aims to advance the Canadian esports industry and create opportunities for Canadian students to pursue careers in esports. ➝ Get the full story.

Joan Sheehan, executive vice president of global sales for STEMCELL Technologies, was named one of 10 successful women leaders in the biotech industry.

“Sheehan has been directing and guiding the company to grow at 20% per annum and has expanded to 15 countries ever since her hiring,” reports BioSpace.

The FIA has announced a provisional calendar for the 2021-22 Formula E season, confirming inaugural races in Vancouver, Cape Town and Seoul.

Earlier this April, the Vancouver City Council voted in favour of partnering with Montreal-based One Stop Strategy Group for an FE race in Vancouver, with a venue proposed in the False Creek region.

Construction tech company Nexii Building Solutions Inc. and Omicron Canada Ltd. announced that Nexii has acquired Omicron as a wholly-owned subsidiary. 

“Omicron and Nexii have been collaborating in several key areas of mutual interest for the last two years, with the shared aim to tackle the construction industry’s main challenge; how to change the way we build in the face of climate change,” said Stephen Sidwell, CEO of Nexii. “Today’s merger formalizes and deepens this relationship and represents a natural strategic evolution for both companies.”
