Former Ericsson executive Manish Kamra joins Hootsuite as SVP of Software Development to build out the company's long-term technology development strategy
The Ottawa-based Kamra previously held roles at companies like Blackberry, Intel, and Optiva.
Last year, Ryan Donovan, CTO of Vancouver’s Hootsuite, said that 2020 had transformed how people and brands use social media. “As more people were forced to quarantine, social media usage spiked dramatically, “ he observed. “As a result, brands were forced to adapt and the pressure on social platforms increased. While this year was undoubtedly marked by an unforgettable crisis, innovation on social media has reached an all-time high.”
Hootsuite, a social media management pioneer, has been a key tool for many companies, as they navigate, not just the digital age, or just the COVID age, but the COVID-digital-age. Now, with an eye towards long-term growth and success, Hootsuite is bulking up its ranks with the hiring of Manish Kamra as Senior Vice President, Software Development. A former executive at Ericsson, Kamra will focus on establishing Hootsuite’s technology development strategy and execution plan, according to a statement from the company.
Donovan, who originally joined Hootsuite as SVP of Product and Technology, commented on the new hire, saying: “Manish is a driven, clear and charismatic leader who approaches his work with a growth mindset; his capabilities will serve him well as he leads our global software development strategy and as our company continues on a trajectory of high growth. I’m excited to welcome Manish to our team and am confident in his ability to continue to unlock innovation within our platform.”
Kamra, who has previously held roles at companies like Blackberry, Intel, and Optiva, will leverage his expertise to evaluate emerging technologies and engineering practices with a strategic focus on partnerships and potential acquisitions. He will also manage corporate research and development for production operations and security.
